Letter to the Editor of the Rocky Mountain News:
In Tuesday’s News, I was pleased to read an article entitled "Fact and fiction," in which the paper pointed out many of the inaccuracies made in a recent speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. A newspaper holding a politician accountable: what a novel concept. If only the News would extend this practice to American leaders. The President of the United States, for instance, tells just as many lies as Ahmadinejad, yet I don't recall any of his speeches ever being the subject of a "Fact and fiction" article. A major difference between the two leaders, of course, is that when Bush lies, tens of thousands of innocent Muslims end up dead. Ahmadinejad, it seems, has a better human rights record.
